In order to assess the rate at which the gold/silver alloy containing 5% silver dissolves in the caustic sulfur system, kinetic experiments were performed using the REQCM. A gold/silver electrode was placed in a solution which was prepared using 2M sulfur and 9M sodium hydroxide, and the kinetic plot of mass vs. time is shown in Figure 1.
